Autumn Watercolour Flowers

This autumn watercolour flowers clipart and background paper set contains within it nine individual elements that can be arranged and sued to suit your needs, whether it be for a website background, a wedding invitation, a component within a larger artwork, or anything else that meets your fancy.

The nine elements that make up this clipart set are divided into three different sections depending on their palettes, with those sections being earthy, natural, and warm. Natural is the largest section, containing five different patterns in shades of greens, yellows, and gentle reds, and earth tones is the smallest, containing only one pattern within it.

Despite the disparity in sizes, each section has its own personality and uses, and can be used to accentuate different moods in the final work that they would be incorporated into, depending on what your interest is and what attitude you’d like your piece to reflect.

The first and only pattern in the earth tones section is a pattern of red, pink, and yellow flowers overlayed over light green mottled leaves, and set onto a background of rusty red, like terracotta or the colour of naturally red Texas earth. This pattern can be used in a variety of ways, but the natural use of reds and mottled greens creates an autumnal mood that calls to mind reddening maple leaves and ripening gourds.

Using this pattern can evoke a sense of vibrancy without going into an overwhelmingly bright and saturated tone, being perfect as a background for invitations or as gift wrap. While this might be too bright to use as a website background, it can be employed as an accent to other patterns, or even as a surface to paint on.

The second set is the largest set, that being the natural tones of the autumnal, floral designs.

Here, we have five distinct patterns to be used, ranging from green to light yellow to deep shades of natural brown.

The first item in this set is a pattern of the same yellow, pink, and red flowers overlayed over a full, dark green, the saturated tones calling to mind evergreen pines and dark leaves. Personally, I think this set would work wonderfully as a background to a webpage, or as something to overlay text onto, because the dark colours could make for a very good surface to place white text against without that text becoming illegible.

The second item in this five-item set is one of the more desaturated items – light brown and white flowers patterned regularly over a light brown or even beige background. This particular pattern, with its light colours and subtle pigmentation, would work best as part of a papercraft project, or as background for watercolour, even. You can print this onto tissue paper and use it as gift wrap, or use it in wedding invitations for a natural, delicate beauty.

The third item in the set is a complete break from the norm, depicting large, irregularly patterned flowers that are entirely translucent, creating subtle patterns in a deep, full saturation brown with reddish undertones. This pattern is more abstract than the other two, leaving plenty of room for layering text, other clipart, or even using as a background for photography. Simple and distinct, this pattern can be enough on all its own, or serve just as well as part of a complete piece.

The final two of the natural colours set are similar to the first two, in that both use regularly-placed patterns of flowers, and a background of green and beige, respectively. The shades used here, however, are much brighter and warmer in nature, with the beige background containing much more yellow and the green background being brighter and more cheery.

The flowers patterning the yellow background are all in much stronger and more opaque shades of red and yellow – making this a clipart set that might be less ideal for adding text to. However, there are still plenty of uses in art and commerce for these two designs.
